LECTURES
WEEK 7- DOUBLE EXPOSURE
Double exposure & Image Blending mode
Double exposure
- merging multiple images
- the goal is to make them surreal, emotional, or humorous
- usually feature silhouettes
examples of creating double exposure:
1. Tilt-Shift Effect
- blur one of your photos instead of the entire image or blur everything except for one important detail
- to add this feature: Filter➛ Blur Gallery➛ Tilt-Shift
Fig 1.1 Tilt-shift effect
2. Create fake reflection
Fig 1.2 Fake Reflection
3. Simple Portraits & Textured Details
Fig 1.3 Portrait and Texture
4. Black & White
- lack of colour strengthen emotions
- gives them a unique depth
Fig 1.4 Black and White
Fig 1.5 Silhouette
6. Pick 2 random photos
- shoot interesting textures, shapes and forms
Fig 1.6 Two random photos
7. Make simple objects look fascinating
- e.g. a silhouette of a dull-looking building could become the outline of the starry sky
Fig 1.7 simple objects to fascinating
8. Shadow

WEEK 9- DIGITAL SURREALISM
Realism vs Surrealism
Realism
- takes subject matters of the ordinary and common world which we call "reality"
- it almost always takes a non-exotic and non-extraordinary subject matter and theme
Surrealism
- a twist on Realism
- it explores the subconscious mind, with subject matters concentrating on dream-images
- often aims to distort the ordinary and what we call reality
- defies logic
- Salvador Dalí, Spanish Surrealist painter and printmaker is known for exploring subconscious imagery promoted free association and dream imagery
Fig 1.9 Realism (left) vs Surrealism (right)
Digital surrealism
- a cultural movement focused on type of arts to express about the artist’s idea themselves
- one of the top digital art styles in this digital era

TASK 2B- CONCEPTUAL PRODUCT PHOTOSHOOT
WEEK 9
To find research of conceptual product photoshoot and pick three favourite images, add to the reference moodboard. Doing research is useful for us to get more ideas to create our own conceptual product. We are tasked to take pictures of the interesting objects that can be found at home with suitable lighting techniques. And then, create a photo manipulation of the subject using Photoshop to make it interesting. After that, write a summary about our idea and create sketches.
RESEARCH
Fig W9.1 reference mood board, Week 9 (21/11/2023)
I plan to combine both objects which have similarities in each other or when both objects with no similarities but can be formed into one new object. Here are some objects found from my house:
1. Paper cup + Lightbulb: Milkshake topped with whipped cream! However it's not edible...
Fig W9.2 Sketch #1 paper cup + lightbulb, Week 9 (21/11/2023)
2. Highlighter + Cutting Knife: Both have same shape of tip, combining them together makes a new looking tool.

FINAL OUTCOME
Fig W9.20 Conceptual Product Photoshoot, Week 9 (21/11/2023)
DESCRIPTION: "Playful Bliss Brew" : A paper cup with the unusual letter arrangement that spells "play" (from the playground) conveys a lighthearted and enjoyable vibe. The brilliant colour of the cup and the brightening lights may symbolise happiness. When combined, they create an enthusiastic, sweet-looking beverage that is topped with whipped cream. The idea behind this 'drink' is that it would make someone happy after consumption and also represent how wonderful simple things in life can be! Similar to how these unassuming objects could likewise develop into something novel and fascinating.
